Midweek Pick Me Up

I purchased a book years ago called "I Don't Have to Make Everything All Better" (don't you just love the title of that book?) by Gary B. Lundberg and Joy Saunders Lundberg. I was skimming through it, looking for something that would apply to us as parents and I came across this poem, written by Joy (the co-author).
A Teacher Is...

Someone who senses the
worth of my soul,
Who sees the potential
within.
Who somehow knows how
to open the way
For me to try harder,
and win.

Someone who sees beyond
the small acts
That cover my real needs
inside,
And uses the power
of calm gentleness
While setting the boundaries
that guide.

Someone who opens the
world to my view,
And causes my mind to
explore
The wonders of life
in ways that inspire
A yearning to walk through
the door.

Someone whose smile
reveals a deep faith
In all that is decent
and true,
Whose caring and love
I cannot resist.
That someone, that teacher
is you.

What an inspiring poem. I feel better already.
